The wives of policemen in Ghana have come out finally to disclose the poor conditions under which their husbands live and it’s very pathetic.
The association of wives of policemen said, their husbands were wearing faded uniforms, torn boots, which according to them was high embarrassing.
Comfort Tsumedzor, the president of the association was reportedly said to make this revelation.
She further called on the government to rise to the occasion and do something about the plight of their husbands.
‘’ I am pleading with the government to help them get new uniforms and other logistics that will improve in the discharge of their professional duties. It is embarrassing to see our husband’s wear tattered uniforms and boots. You can see the uniforms looking very faded on them to the extent that we sympathize with them’’, she said during the police week celebration in Cape Coast.
Mrs. Comfort Tsumedzor observed that being a policeman these days is a herculean task underscoring the need for them to be properly catered for in order to boost their morale in the discharge of their duties protecting lives and property.
She brought to light another challenge they face which is accommodation.
Comfort revealed that, there is serious congestion in the police barracks.
‘’ We share single and sometimes two small rooms with our families and our husbands are unable to get enough rest since the kids are always playing around. This affects them emotionally and physically because they are unable to regain their lost strength before they resume work the next day,’’ she cried.
However, she appealed to the service to consider erecting structures on large tracks of land it has rather than allow police personnel to rent rooms among communities.
